About Hike Much
We review hiking, trekking, backpacking, and camping gear in rough, real-life conditions, so you never have to purchase bad outdoors gear ever again.
Our Story
Hike Much started in January 2020, when Oskars Brumelis decided he wants to create a new hiking gear resource with high-quality standards.
Most outdoor gear sites recommend products based on other customer reviews, and they don’t test the gear out in real-life conditions for themselves. This needs to change because very often bad-quality products end up in the hands of hikers, just because someone who didn’t know better recommended them.
Hike Much sets a new standard for the whole industry. If we recommend a product on our site, we’ve tested it out in real-life hiking conditions for ourselves. And not for a single time, but at least for a week or more. Also, we never accept sponsored posts on our site and our reviews aren’t influenced by the manufacturers. We accept free products from brands, but that doesn’t influence our reviews. Read more about our review process over here.
Setting such standards obviously isn’t easy, which is why we publish less content than our competitors. Our reviews take a while to make because they’re incredibly in-depth, and we like to test every little detail.
We’re still a small company. Everything we make gets invested in new staff and new gear so that we can grow faster and make more helpful reviews for the outdoors community. If you want to help us grow faster, make sure to follow us on social media and spread the word!
Staff and Contributing Authors
Currently, we’re still a very small company. In the future we’ll be hiring a dedicated team outdoors enthusiasts, to help grow Hike Much even further.
Oskars Brumelis (Founder)
Before he founded Hike Much, Oskars was working on Clever Journey, and he’s still a contributing author there. He’s always had a passion for traveling, hiking, and everything outdoors. Even though he’s been in over 30 different countries, he enjoys hiking and camping the most in his backyard – the beautiful pine forests of Latvia. On Hike Much, he does reviews, videos, design, and other things.
Location: Riga, Latvia
How We Make Money
Hikemuch.com is monetized only by affiliate links, but in the future, we’ll also show ads on some of our articles. By doing this, our blog earns enough money to pay for our salaries, all the gear that we test, and maintaining the site. We never accept any sponsored articles or promotional content on our site to keep our reviews and guides genuine. We accept free products, but that doesn’t influence our reviews.
Affiliate Links
Most of our articles contain affiliate links. If you purchase something after clicking our affiliate links, we’ll make a small commission for directing you there (usually 5% – 15% of the total price). Affiliate links don’t really change anything for you, the customer, because the price of the product stays the same. It’s just a way for us to monetize our site, so we don’t have to pay for everything out of our own pocket.
Display Advertising
At the moment we don’t have any display ads on our site, but when we grow to a certain point, we’ll probably start showing ads on some of our articles. We realize that ads are annoying, so we promise to show them at sustainable levels. Most likely, we’ll show them only on our informational articles, which aren’t monetized by affiliate links.
